The disturbing makeup of Dain Yoon

Dain Yoon is undeniably the queen of makeup. For several years now she has been making sensation on Instagram and stunned her fans with each of her new publications.

Originally from South Korea, Dain Yoon is a passionate makeup artist who devotes most of her time to this art that she masters with a surprising talent. His Instagram account is filled with surreal photos and videos where Dain puts most of his face on the stage, transforming it into always original, sometimes disturbing works.

Contrary to what some images might suggest, none of them have been manipulated with software such as Photoshop (or maybe just for minor retouching). Visual effects are strictly all achieved through makeup. An “art of illusion” as she calls herself, sometimes requiring long hours of work, patience and dexterity.

According to her, “When people look at the sky, they think it is blue, but in fact it’s composed of many different colors. Everyone lives in illusion and I want to show all the ways of seeing that has the human being.”

Dain Yoon is one of those artists who do not see the world as we see it, but through a totally different prism. Fascinated by painting since childhood, this graduate from the Seoul School of Fine Arts began using her body as an caneva three years ago (in 2015). She is inspired by the works of Chinese artist Liu Bolin, a true icon of contemporary art and nicknamed “the invisible man”.
